Arsenal are closely watching Gremio right-back Vanderson ahead of the summer transfer window, despite his recent contract renewal.
Globo Esporte report that Arsenal are following the development of 19-year-old defender Vanderson. They’ve made contact with Gremio to try and establish the right-back’s situation ahead of a possible move.
The situation has only grown more complicated lately, however. Just this week, Gremio, renewed Vanderson’s contract to 2025 and increased his release clause to over R$600m (£83m). So there’s no chance of Arsenal doing a deal without holding negotiations.
The Brazil national team also have an eye on the player, and he could be an alternative option for the Olympics this summer. Arsenal already have Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli likely to attend the event in Tokyo.
Vanderson broke into the Gremio teams on December 27th, 2020, and he’s made 25 appearances since then. He’s scored three goals and assisted one from full-back, helping Gremio to win the Campeonato Gaúcho in May.
The defender recently caught the eye with a fantastic goal, which you can watch below.
