Kristof Terreur reports that Arsenal have been following Albert Sambi Lokonga for a while, and they’ve made an enquiry over the Anderlecht midfielder and club captain.

A report from The Athletic this week suggested Arsenal were interested in a move for the 21-year-old this summer. They view him as a multi-functional midfielder and an effective ball-carrier with a dynamic style.

But the Gunners aren’t the only ones after the Belgium u21 international, who received his first senior international call-up in March. AC Milan and other European clubs are also on his case.

Local outlets in Belgium reported last week that Arsenal were the most interested of the parties following Lokonga, and they’ve been following him since at least 2019.

Niewsblad claim a transfer fee of around €15m to €20m seems feasible. Lokonga made 37 appearances for Anderlecht this season, taking on the captain’s armband from December onwards.

Terreur does have a word of warning for Arsenal though, suggesting Lokonga needs to play to continue to develop. If they’re bringing him in, it can’t be to leave him on the bench every week.
