Arsenal have reportedly made contact with Manchester United and/or Donny van de Beek’s representatives as they consider a move for the boyfriend of Dennis Bergkamp’s daughter.
Manchester United signed van de Beek last summer for £35m and it’s safe to say his first season didn’t really set the Premier League alight.
That being said, with four years left on his contract, plus an option for another year, it seems unlikely that United will give up on the 24-year-old after only one season.
Handed only four Premier League starts last season, there are rumours around his Manchester United future which have apparently prompted Arsenal to get in touch.
Quite who they’ve contacted is not clear, however.
90min, who first reported the links, say that Arsenal contacted Manchester United. The Mirror, who picked up the story, and link to it, say that Arsenal have contacted van de Beek’s representatives.
Arsenal are, of course, on the look out for a midfielder or three this summer but I’d be quite surprised to see us signing van de Beek from United or this story going anywhere substantial.
