On Tuesday, it was reported that Arsenal and Anderlecht had finally found an agreement over a deal for Albert Sambi Lokonga. The club’s have been in negotiations for around six months according to reports in Belgium and an agreement was found with the player a few weeks back.

Arsenal also agreed a deal with Benfica for their full-back, Nuno Tavares, who will, like Sambi Lokonga, sign a five-year deal.

Now, they are said to be stepping up their interest in Sabitzer who has just one year remaining on his current contract.

Arsenal’s interest in Sabitzer was reported as far back as January but it is only this week that they, along with Roma and AC Milan, have seemingly ‘increased interest’.

RB Leipzig reportedly want around €17m for the central midfielder with the player expected to make a decision now he is no longer playing at the Euros. As Austria were knocked out at the weekend, Sabitzer is off on vacation, but we are likely to see things move somewhat quickly, with pre-season bearing down on sides across Europe.

Sabitzer has a release clause of €50m while transfermarkt state he is valued at around €42m (£37.8m).

€17m, therefore, would certainly represent great value for somebody.
