Arsenal are keeping tabs on Alexander Isak of Real Sociedad and technical director Edu rates him highly, according to a report.

The Athletic report that Arsenal are eyeing Alexander Isak as a possible transfer target this summer. Edu is a big fan of the forward, and he’s likely to be high up on the list of transfer targets if they sell a striker or two this summer.

Isak has a release clause of €70m (£60.2m), but obviously Arsenal will be able to try and negotiate a lower fee if they really are interested.

As a centre-forward talent, Isak is undoubtedly very promising. He’s 21 years old and scored 17 goals for Sociedad this season, before preparing to lead the line for Sweden at Euro 2020.

My primary concern would be that Arsenal don’t really need to prioritise signing a striker this summer. The Athletic admit this themselves, saying the Gunners aren’t actively seeking one this summer.

Even if Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah both leave, the Gunners still have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and plenty of younger options waiting for a chance, including Folarin Balogun, Gabriel Martinelli, and Tyreece John-Jules.

Bringing in another centre-forward from the u23 age group would be a bit of a strange move for so much money, with so many other positions to address. But if Arsenal feel Isak has a big future and this is a rare opportunity to snap him up, you never know.
