The Athletic report that Arsenal are interested in a move for Anderlecht’s Albert Sambi Lokonga this summer. They view him as a multi-functional midfielder and an effective ball-carrier with a dynamic style.

AC Milan and other European clubs are interested, and Lokonga has recently started to break into the Belgium national team. He made the squad in March and is on the Euro 2020 standby list.

Yet, The Athletic claim he’s likely to move for a lot less than someone like Ruben Neves, which is unsurprising.

This follows similar reports from Belgium last week, with local outlets claiming Arsenal were the most interested of the parties following Lokonga, and they’ve been on his case since at least 2019.

Niewsblad claim a transfer fee of around €15m to €20m seems feasible. The 21-year-old made 37 appearances for Anderlecht this season, taking on the captain’s armband from December onwards.

With Granit Xhaka on the verge of an exit for between €18m and €20m, this is certainly a move Arsenal could afford, in an area where they need to make signings.
