Boca Juniors are yet to hold any kind of formal contact with Arsenal over Lucas Torreira, but a couple of top European clubs have shown an interest.

Libertad Digital report that Boca Juniors have not yet made any kind of move in relation to the potential signing of Lucas Torreira. The player is clearly keen to join them, but they haven’t even held a single phone call with Arsenal.

There are other teams in the mix for the midfielder, however. Sevilla have already made a formal enquiry over Torreira, and Inter Milan are another of the interested teams – having expressed an interest before he even joined Atletico Madrid on loan.

Boca Juniors president Jorge Amor Ameal recently suggested he was glad to hear that Torreira wanted to sign for them. But much as it’s nice to have a well-known international keen to join your club, that doesn’t always mean it’s feasible.

Perhaps Boca are still unsure whether they can afford to make a move. Maybe they feel Torreira’s statements have put them in a position of strength, and they’re better off playing it cool for the time being.

Either way, it’s growing more and more likely that Ricardo Torreira (Lucas’ father) was right to predict that his son won’t be playing for Arsenal next season.
