Reiss Nelson is expecting to leave Arsenal in the summer after being excluded from the matchday squad again on Sunday.

Although he arrived with the Arsenal squad to face West Bromwich Albion at the weekend, Reiss Nelson didn’t make the bench for the match. He was only involved as the extra man on that occasion, in case of emergencies.

As a result, Nelson has still only made the Premier League squad on four occasions in 2021, and he hasn’t played a single minute. The only senior football he’s appeared in this year was in the FA Cup third-round match against Newcastle United.

James Benge wrote on Twitter that Nelson is expecting to leave in the summer, so that seems a likely explanation for why he’s not featuring.

Just over a week ago, Mikel Arteta claimed there are no issues with Nelson in training, and it was just a case of too much competition in front of him. The manager blamed himself for not using the winger more.

But we can only hope other clubs take him seriously on that point and still think Nelson is worth buying this summer. His value is certainly not going to be as high as if he were playing some football occasionally.
