As well as Matteo Guendouzi, Olympique de Marseille also want to convince William Saliba to join them on loan next season, according to a report.

L’Equipe report that in addition to their pursuit of Matteo Guendouzi, Marseille are also interested in William Saliba. They’ve started discussions to try and convince him to join, but they’re not at an advanced stage.

It’s somewhat inevitable that clubs will try to make attempts to sign Saliba on loan this summer. Many are still trying to find short-term solutions to their on-field problems to get them through to the other side of the pandemic market.

With Saliba not yet having played his first competitive match for Arsenal, there are always going to be doubts about whether Mikel Arteta is really going to use him, and clubs will prey on those doubts to try and secure a deal.

But every English source has been pretty emphatic that Arsenal have no plans to sell, and they intend to give Saliba the chance to impress in pre-season. At least until he’s had that opportunity, I wouldn’t expect any progress at all on a departure.
