Olympique de Marseille and Matteo Guendouzi have an agreement on a four-year contract, but they’re yet to strike a deal with Arsenal.

French outlets L’Equipe and La Provence report that Matteo Guendouzi now has an agreement with Marseille for a move. He is prioritising a move to the Ligue 1 club and has apparently agreed a four-year deal to join them.

But there’s still some way to go to conclude a transfer. According to L’Equipe and RMC at the start of the week, Arsenal and Marseille were yet to begin negotiations. La Provence wrote that the deal could be concluded for a sum between €12m and €15m.

Translated, it reads, “The leaders would work on a transfer of Mattéo Guendouzi (under contract to Arsenal until June 2022), for a sum of between 12M € and 15M € . The French midfielder agrees with OM on a four-year contract.”

These latest claims contradict reports we heard in the last couple of days, with GFFN claiming Marseille had asked for Guendouzi on loan, then returned to enquire over a permanent deal at around €8m, with Arsenal asking for more than double that.

The one thing it seems we can say for sure is that Marseille are interested in Guendouzi and Arsenal are planning to sell the midfielder this summer.

You’d imagine that will get the transfer over the line, in the end, it just might take some time.
