Liverpool aren’t looking at Yves Bissouma this summer, which could be a boost to Arsenal’s chances of signing the Brighton midfielder.

Reports continue to link Arsenal with a move for Yves Bissouma, with Football.London writing on Friday that the club remain keen on the midfielder. Bissouma reportedly wants to join the Gunners, but they haven’t made formal contact with Brighton yet.

This fits with Fabrizio Romano’s report on Thursday that Bissouma is appreciated by Arsenal and is one of the options on their shortlist – though not the first one. For the time being, at least, they’re also looking at different kinds of players in midfield.

But one potential boost to Arsenal’s chances is that Liverpool appear not to be in the race.

The Merseyside club had been named by Romano as a club with an interest in Bissouma, but James Pearce of The Athletic claims he’s not a target for Liverpool.

Previous reports have given a range of potential fees for Bissouma, with The Times writing that Brighton would be open to selling for £30m, whilst The Athletic have the figure at £40m. It’s a substantial investment either way.
