AS Roma are confident of signing Granit Xhaka this summer, with developments in the saga expected sooner rather than later.
On Thursday, we covered reports coming from Italy that Jose Mourinho was driving an AS Roma bid to sign Granit Xhaka from Arsenal this summer. At the time, the rumours suggested the two clubs were still pretty far from an agreement.
The transfer is already looking more likely now, though. Di Marzio report that Roma are ‘really optimistic’ about closing the deal. They add that Arsenal still want €25m and the next few days are set to be decisive.
Football.London confirm that Roma are confident above the move, and the player himself has signalled that he’s willing to leave Arsenal this summer. He’d welcome the chance to play under Mourinho.
The English outlet report that Arsenal have told Roma the starting point for negotiations is £20m, and they’re keen to wrap up a deal before Xhaka heads off to the Euros with Switzerland in less than a fortnight.
Arsenal are looking to raise the money they need for summer signings through sales, and right now, it looks like Xhaka could be the first out the door.
