Kieran Tierney’s form this season is likely to be rewarded with a new contract soon, according to a report.

The Athletic report that Kieran Tierney is viewed by Arsenal as one of the key elements of their future squad. The club are likely to reward Tierney with a new contract to reflect that. His current deal expires in 2024.

Arsenal fans certainly don’t want to see the 23-year-old go anywhere. When he’s been available, he’s been one of the key players in Mikel Arteta’s side. When he’s been absent, that fact has often only been made more obvious.

The only negative for the left-back as an individual this season is that he’s had a few injuries. It’s no surprise Arsenal are looking at backup left-backs, as this has been a consistent theme for Tierney in recent seasons.

But the Scottish international still makes the top eight at the club in terms of minutes this season, so he’s played plenty of football. It’s just a case of having a strong alternative in the squad so he can rest and play at the right times.

If Arsenal can combine a new signing with an extension for Tierney this summer, that would put the position in good hands for the coming seasons.
