The Telegraph claim Arsenal see Joachim Andersen as a replacement for David Luiz, should the Brazilian centre-back choose to move on this summer. That seems very possible at the moment, with rumours suggesting he wants out.

Arsenal will have to compete with Spurs for the signing, with the other North London club reportedly in ‘pole position’ to land the signing.

Andersen has spent the season on loan with relegated Fulham, but he’ll return to Lyon at the end of the season. At that point, he’s expected to be available for a summer transfer for £20m.

Arsenal have been linked with Andersen in the past, particularly when he was still with Sampdoria. But after the player agreed to join Lyon, Fabrizio Romano then claimed the Gunners were never actually interested in the move.

Perhaps that’s changed now, given Andersen has spent a season in Ligue 1 and another in the Premier League. The Arsenal scouts will have had plenty of opportunities to get a look at him, we should find out soon enough whether they’re convinced to make a move.
