Leah Smith reports that Leicester City are now in the final stages of signing Ryan Bertrand of Southampton. Arsenal were reportedly also keen, but Leicester have been on his case since the beginning of the season.

Though Leah kindly chooses not to mention it, Bertrand may also be tempted by Leicester City closing in on a Europa League spot at the very least, if not a Champions League place – depending on results this weekend.

The news comes just days after reports that Arsenal were preparing their first formal offer for Bertrand. As well as TheAFCBell, the Daily Mail and Goal also recently reported that talks between Arsenal and Bertrand’s camp had intensified.

Southampton have confirmed Bertrand is leaving this summer as a free agent, so the only remaining question is over where he ends up. It looks like Leicester are leading that race right now.
