Football.London report that Reiss Nelson is attracting interest from Olympiacos, who are considering bringing in the winger on loan this summer. The club have actually been following Nelson from as long ago as last season.

Nelson will reportedly hold talks with his representatives in the coming weeks to hash out their plans for the future.

Mikel Arteta encouraged Nelson to go on loan over the summer, and again in January, but the winger chose to stay on both occasions. Whilst it’s admirable he opted to fight for his place, it hasn’t worked out very well.

The 21-year-old hasn’t made any kind of appearance for the Arsenal first team since January 9th, and he’s only made one single appearance in a senior squad since that date.

There are no concerns over his fitness, and he’s been perfectly healthy to appear in five u23 games in February and March, playing the full 90 minutes on each occasion. But he doesn’t even seem to be close to the senior action.

That’s had a knock-on effect internationally, with Nelson missing out on the England u21 squad for the Euros in March. In the end, that turned out to be their loss, as they were eliminated in the group stage.

If Nelson’s situation at Arsenal doesn’t change between now and May, he definitely needs a loan at the very least this summer – if not a permanent move. Another season like this one so far would be a waste of time.
