After stepping up to the Arsenal u18s full-time this season, Mauro Bandeira quickly made himself a starter for the side. The midfielder made the starting lineup in 13 of the first 16 league games of the season, coming off the bench in two of the other three.

Unfortunately, after playing the full 90 minutes in the FA Youth Cup fourth-round win over Blackburn Rovers on March 20th, Bandeira subsequently dropped out of the team with an injury.

Given that Bandeira had completed his last match, there was some uncertainty around his injury. Sadly, the player revealed on Thursday that he had to undergo surgery on the problem.

The good news is that the procedure went well and he’s on the road to recovery now. Bandeira’s absence has coincided with Luigi Gaspar’s return, as well as Jack Henry-Francis becoming a regular starter, so the u18s still have options in midfield.

Hopefully, that means Bandeira can focus on making a full recovery without feeling the pressure to rush back. We wish him all the best with his rehabilitation.
