Joe Willock has Arsenal reservations about return

Arsenal could be set for a fight this summer if they want to keep Joe Willock and while they scramble around trying to sign Martin Odegaard or a similar player, Newcastle are hoping they can keep the Arsenal man.

Joe Willock came of the bench to score again, this time netting a point against Liverpool with his third goal in three games. In total, that’s five points he’s earned his team in those three games, grabbing a draw against Jurgen Klopp’s men and Tottenham as well as the winner against West Ham despite only playing a total of 46 minutes.

When Willock arrived at Newcastle, he started their first seven games, netting on his debut against Southampton. Since then, however, he has found himself on the bench. That hasn’t stopped Steve Bruce wanting to sign him, however, with the Magpies boss saying before the game against the Reds that ‘big discussions’ would take place with Arsenal this summer.

Privately, Willock is said to be concerned about his game time should he return to Arsenal and it’s hard to argue with him. Before he was sent on loan, Mikel Arteta handed him just two league starts while he got just seven league appearances in total.
