Jens Lehmann seemed to struggle to hold his tongue when asked if he thought Mikel Arteta would be at the club next season.

Jens Lehmann was speaking to the football show, Football Daily, and seemed reluctant to be truly honest when asked what he thought about the job Mikel Arteta is doing at the club. His words, however, were still telling.

He was asked if he saw any signs of encouragement that Arsenal could turn things around under Mikel Arteta, either this season or next season, to which the German replied, “I don’t see enthusiasm, but I can be wrong.

“I’ve heard Arteta is a really good coach on the pitch so I can’t really say anything negative about that.”

Lehmann was then asked if he thought Arteta would be at Arsenal next season and, after a heavy pause which seemed telling, he said, “Imagine Arsene Wenger would’ve ended up where they are right now, they wouldn’t have accepted that but with a guy like Arteta they do.”

He’s not wrong…
