After a 2-1 victory for Villarreal in the first leg, the focus has already shifted to what will be an intriguing second round at the Emirates Stadium next Thursday. Villarreal are set to be missing a couple of the players who helped them build their lead in Spain.

Etienne Capoue is suspended for the clash after his second yellow card. The midfielder was stretchered off the pitch, but Spanish commentary suggested he was just faking the injury to waste time or avoid the second yellow. He would have been fit for next week.

Juan Foyth was substituted off with a hamstring problem, and he’s expected to miss the second leg as well.

He tweeted that he hopes it’s nothing serious and he can return “as soon as possible”, but after pulling up the way he did, a return within a week just isn’t likely.

From an Arsenal point of view, they’ll hope they can get Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, David Luiz, and Kieran Tierney fit to start before next Thursday.

Aubameyang made his return to the pitch off the bench on Thursday, whilst Luiz was in the squad but didn’t come on. Lacazette and Tierney are back in training and not far off.
