VfB Stuttgart would be keen to keep Konstantinos Mavropanos for another season, with Arsenal watching his progress closely, according to a report.
Chris Wheatley reports that VfB Stuttgart are impressed with Konstantinos Mavropanos so far, and they’re keen to extend his loan for another campaign if possible.
Wheatley adds in his report on Football.London that the defender’s performances in the Bundesliga are catching the eye of rival clubs and managers. Arsenal are monitoring his situation, with no decision on his future yet.
Mavropanos had a slow start to his loan spell with Stuttgart, largely due to a couple of injuries. It wasn’t until the end of November that he made his second start for the team, and even then he was in and out of it for a while.
However, things have very much picked up lately. Since coming on at half-time away to SC Freiburg on January 23rd, Mavropanos has started every game in all competitions for Stuttgart, a run of six starts.
Stuttgart have achieved some good results in that period, including a couple of clean-sheet wins over Mainz and FC Koln, and a 5-1 thrashing of FC Schalke last Saturday.
We recently covered Mavropanos’ statistics as one of the top tacklers in the Bundesliga, both in terms of frequency (3.43 successful tackles per 90) and also in terms of success rate (74%).
As usual with Mavropanos, it’s now about staying fit and staying consistent to the end of the campaign. If he can do that, you’d expect him to get a chance to impress in pre-season.
