The Times report that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be given an early chance to redeem himself against Olympiacos in the Europa League round-of-16 second leg on Thursday.

The striker was left out of the starting lineup to face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday after arriving late to meet the squad. This was reportedly not the first time he’d breached club protocols and it was enough to see him drop to the bench on this occasion.

Aubameyang didn’t drop out of the squad completely, given it was already matchday. By that point, the club couldn’t call another player up to take his place and couldn’t risk not having a striker on the bench. But he wasn’t used in the match.

Fortunately, it doesn’t look like there will be long-term ramifications for the team. Aubameyang will rejoin the side for the Olympiacos match and hopefully ensure he doesn’t make the same mistake again in the future.
