Mikel Arteta says all of his substitutions against Olympiacos were tactical decisions, meaning the squad remains injury-free for now.

Arsenal made the full five substitutions in their win away to Olympiacos on Thursday, including taking Thomas Partey off after just 55 minutes.

There’s obviously extra concern over Partey whenever he comes off at the moment, given his three injuries this season. But Mikel Arteta denied that change had anything to do with an injury, nor any of the other substitutions.

“No, it was all tactical decisions, or things that we wanted to change in the game,” Arteta said. “I wanted to change [Partey] and to bring somebody else in to try to find some other stuff and change the shape that we were playing inside.”

As things stand, this means Arsenal have managed to retain their blank senior injury list. With Emile Smith Rowe returning to the squad on Thursday, no one is out injured at the moment.

The treatment room isn’t exactly empty, with a few ongoing injuries to some of the u23 squad and a few loanees back with the club working on their fitness. But this is about as close as we’re probably ever going to get to a clean bill of health for the squad.
