Mikel Arteta’s rebuilding is set to continue this summer as he looks to arrest his side’s slide down the table.

Their latest performance against Burnley, whose outcome not many punters on Betway88 could have expected, showed the magnitude of the task ahead. Factionalism within the Gunners’ fanbase is still real, just like during Wenger’s time in charge. During Wenger’s reign, there used to be “Arsene Knows Best” and “Wenger Out” factions. At the moment, Arteta also seems to have lost the support of some of the fans who feel he is not the right man to lead the club back to the top.

So far, there are no “Arteta Out” banners and hashtags on Twitter. However, after their 1-1 draw with Burnley, there is cause to worry for Arteta. But, the manager’s supporters are keen to point to the underlying metrics and statistics beseeching others to “trust the process”.

The defense he has right now is that he inherited a poor squad from his predecessors. The argument is, once he has “his squad” in place, the Gunners will be back to winning ways. However, this is also a matter of conjecture.

In his previous interviews, the manager has claimed that he needs more quality players to make his squad better. So, in his rebuilding, who should he sell? Here are some players who could be moving in the summer:

Hector Bellerin – he was a bright prospect that was once tipped as a future captain. However, he seems not to fit into Arteta’s strategy. It would be better for both parties if they parted ways in the summer.

David Luiz – despite being prone to errors during matches, he plays well most of the time. However, at 33, it might not be the best move to extend his deal.

Calum Chambers – currently, Chambers is like the backup player to the backup players. It might be time for him to try his luck elsewhere.

Cedric Soares – there is nothing essentially bad or good about Soares. However, he hasn’t lived up to the club’s expectations. It would be best for the club to sell if they get a good offer.

Mohamed Elneny – in as much as he seems to be doing his best in his position, it is not good enough. Arteta needs to find an upgrade, so they should sell him. Punters on Betway88 will agree that he is not good enough.

Granit Xhaka – the midfielder makes too many mistakes. Currently, he is more of a liability to the manager. They should sell him.

Reiss Nelson – Reiss is an exciting youngster, but things have not worked out for him at Arsenal. He should find a team where he can continue his development.

Willian – surprisingly, Willian has more assists than his teammates and has actually played well in recent weeks. However, it is hard to see him improve in the next phase of his three-year contract. It would be best for both parties to end the experiment fast.

Alexander Lacazette – Lacazette has not hit 50 goals in his four years at the club. It would be best for him to look for greener pastures elsewhere as Arteta looks for an upgrade.

Eddie Nketiah – Nketiah is another fascinating young player. However, he needs to find another club where he can develop to be a top striker. Arteta should let him leave.

Final Thoughts

It might be challenging for Arteta to get rid of all these players in one window. Furthermore, letting up to 10 players leave requires a formidable strategy. Sports fans and punters on Betway88 agree that The Gunners need a squad overhaul.

Who do you think deserves another chance from those mentioned above? Is Arteta bold enough to make tough decisions? We saw it with Ozil. Who’s next?
