Arsenal youngster and son of former Gunner Edu Gaspar, Luigi Gaspar has returned to training again this week.

After playing plenty of games for the Arsenal u16s last season, 17-year-old Luigi Gaspar has yet to appear in a competitive fixture for the u18s this campaign.

The teenager has struggled with fitness setbacks, but he posted on his Instagram story this week that he’s “happy to be back”, along with a clip of a goal he’d scored in training.

I wouldn’t get too excited about seeing the midfielder in action just yet. He posted on his social media pages in late January that he was “ready for action” before presumably suffering another setback to keep him out until now.

The Arsenal u18s have a couple of games this weekend, playing a competitive league game against Reading as well as a friendly match against the England u19s.

The squad will be spread pretty thin across the two matches, so perhaps that gives Luigi Gaspar a chance to make an appearance if he’s fit enough. If not, the next u18 match is on Friday, April 9th at 12:00 BST away to Fulham.
