Valencia have had a rough season, even from the perspective of an Arsenal fan.

They were thrashed 3-0 to exit the Copa Del Rey, they haven’t finished a weekend in the top half of the league since November, and they haven’t had two consecutive league wins all season.

Things looked particularly dire at the weekend, as relegation-threatened Getafe leapfrogged Valencia with a 3-0 win. Ex-Arsenal defender Gabriel Paulista spoke emotionally about the situation to the media afterwards.

“It’s f*****,” Gabriel said. “To talk about this while playing for a club as big as Valencia is f******. But we have to move forward. We have lots of games left and we have to improve and get Valencia back to where they belong.”

Gabriel has been a mainstay in the Valencia team since his transfer, making 145 appearances in just three-and-a-half years. He’s played for them in the Champions League and the Europa League but is currently just trying to keep them in the top division.

It’s clearly a sharp fall from the heights Valencia have reached in the last few seasons. For the sake of Gabriel, and fellow former Gunner Yunus Musah, we wish them the best turning things around again.
