WhoScored post their Team of the Round for the Europa League Last-16 on Friday, with Gabriel Magalhaes featuring in defence.

The team was largely made up of Ajax players (four) and Villarreal players (two), with one representative from each of Manchester United, Arsenal, Slavia Praha, Dinamo Zagreb, and Granada. AS Roma didn’t get anyone in despite their 5-1 aggregate win.

It’s fair to say Gabriel’s first leg is doing a lot of the heavy lifting here. He scored a goal and provided an assist away in Greece, as well as putting in a very solid defensive performance. He had a decent second leg too, but not quite to the same extent.

Regardless, his away goal and assist in the first leg proved vital. Arsenal progressed by a margin of three goals to two, so those goal contributions were the difference between winning and losing.
