Cedric Soares wasn’t involved in the Arsenal matchday squad to face Burnley on Saturday, but there’s no cause for concern with the right-back.

One of the more surprising inclusions in the Arsenal lineup against Burnley was Calum Chambers, making his first Premier League start of the season at right-back. Hector Bellerin made the bench, but Cedric Soares wasn’t involved at all.

Chris Wheatley reports that Cedric isn’t injured, and he trained with the first team ahead of Saturday’s match. However, he was rested by Mikel Arteta ahead of a busy few weeks of fixtures.

Arsenal have such a big squad at the moment, it makes sense to give players the occasional match off if they aren’t needed. With Bellerin available as a replacement right-back, Arteta clearly believed this was an opportunity to give Cedric a day off.

Cedric had a busy start to the year, making eight starts in a row in all competitions before the Manchester City clash where Tierney made his return. Given he’s covering at left-back and right-back at the moment, he may be similarly busy again very soon.
