Calum Chambers and Mikel Arteta heaped more praise on Martin Odegaard after his performance in the three-goal comeback draw against West Ham United.

When many of his teammates were putting in performances well below par and Arsenal were trailing 3-0 to West Ham, Martin Odegaard was one of the only players still performing to his level.

The midfielder played a huge role in the comeback, finding Calum Chambers with clever passes before both of Chambers’ crosses leading to the first two goals, albeit both own goals. He then also played in Nicolas Pepe to assist the equaliser.

On top of those passes, he created four chances directly, completed four of his four attempted dribbles, 93% of his passes, won six of his eight ground duels, and was a willing presser out of possession.

Mikel Arteta noted afterwards that Odegaard had shown the composure many others lacked.

“I think he had an incredible performance, he was very intelligent the way he read the game, the way he affected the game and again he showed how much he wants to win,” Arteta said.

“When everyone was a little bit trembling, he gave us that composure on the ball and he created chance after chance.”

Chambers was also full of praise for his new teammate, and claimed the Real Madrid loanee is already settled in North London.

“He has done brilliant,” Chambers said. “He is a great lad if you speak to him. I get on well with him. He feels at home here. He feels good.

“He’s doing well in training. He works incredibly hard – in training and games. I think everyone is really pleased and I hope he continues the form he’s on.”

Arsenal want to bring Odegaard back this summer, ahead of next season, so they’ll hope he really does feel at home with the club. They’ll need his help to convince Real Madrid to part ways with the player.
