Calciomercato report that Arsenal could look to replace Alexandre Lacazette with former AC Milan striker Andre Silva, now at Frankfurt. MilanNews24 claim he’s become the Gunners’ number-one target.

Frankfurt signed Andre Silva on a three-year deal in the summer, after a decent loan spell with the club in 2019/20, and he’s really kicked on in 2020/21.

After 16 goals in 38 games for Silva last season, he’s already beaten that tally this year, bagging 20 in 23 appearances. The 25-year-old has also matched his tally of five assists from the last campaign.

There are certainly question marks over whether this represents an improvement or an outlying season.

This is by far the best year of Silva’s career and a huge step up from the two goals he scored in 25 league games with Milan. But whether it’s sustainable or not is up for debate.

The striker’s time in Serie A and La Liga was very underwhelming, and there’s a sense that he’s going through a purple patch at the moment. Six penalties have undoubtedly helped his numbers.

It’s not the first time we’ve heard of Arsenal interest in Silva, but it’s been a few years since any serious outlets reported on it. Given the source of the latest updates, we should probably wait for a more reliable outlet to weigh in.
