James Benge of CBS Sports reports that there was interest in Reiss Nelson from Valencia, Villarreal, Wolfsburg, and Hoffenheim but it never translated into anything concrete.

This was partly due to Arsenal’s demands for a sizeable loan fee and at least half of Nelson’s wages paid by the loaning club, which seemingly dulled interest from abroad.

There were also doubts over the benefits of a move to the Championship, which just didn’t leave Arsenal and Nelson with many options to choose from on deadline day.

For Arsenal’s part, they were keen for Nelson to get playing as they haven’t written him off as a future starter for the club just yet.

So, it’s a shame for them and Reiss Nelson himself that they couldn’t find the right loan deal for the 21-year-old.
