James Benge of CBS Sports reports that Arsenal are prepared to consider offers for Calum Chambers in the summer. The 26-year-old is still waiting for his first appearance in the Premier League since his ACL injury, despite returning to action a couple of months ago now.

Chambers actually first stepped out onto the grass in a competitive match for the Arsenal u21s against Gillingham FC in November. He made a couple of further appearances for the u23s before stepping up into the first team for the end of the Europa League group stages.

However, despite starting and playing the full 90 minutes against Dundalk FC on December 10th, that hasn’t led to any further integration in the domestic action.

Chambers made six of Arsenal’s last seven squads in the Premier League and FA Cup, but didn’t get onto the pitch a single time. Not even when they played 120 minutes and made five substitutions against Newcastle United in the cup.

The fact Chambers was being picked ahead of Shkodran Mustafi suggests Mikel Arteta is at least somewhat impressed with his progress, but not enough to play him.

Perhaps this will change when Chambers is back to full 100% sharpness. Maybe Arteta is just waiting for the right moment to reintegrate the defender, after which he’ll start more regularly. But based on these recent reports, it looks like the club are starting to consider moving him on.

Chambers is currently estimated to be worth £13.5m and is under contract with Arsenal until 2022.
