Arsenal wore their away kit against Leicester when the two sides met on Sunday, the luckiest Arsenal kit this season, as it once again proved in their 3-1 win.
Arsenal travelled to Leicester for Sunday’s early kick-off. They went into the game some 15 embarrassing points behind the Foxes, who sat in third place while Arsenal languished in 11th.
A six-pointer this was not.
Things looked set to get worse when the Arsenal defence parted with no complaint for Leicester to waltz through unchallenged to open the scoring after just six minutes, but Mikel Arteta’s men rallied and put in an excellent performance.
In the end, a 3-1 win was sealed thanks to goals from David Luiz, Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe. Willian even managed to get two assists to add to the one he got in the Europa League.
This was Arsenal’s 40th game of the season, if we count the Community Shield and, given we won that game, and got a trophy, I absolutely think we should.
Although you could assume from 40 games played around 20 of those would be away, the Arsenal away shirt has only made an appearance 10 times this season. The game vs Leicester saw the away shirt equal the 10 appearances the third shirt has made, giving a lovely 50% – 25% – 25% symmetry across the range.
Of the 10 games Arsenal have worn the away shirt for, they have won seven and lost three. In terms of winning percentage when in this shirt, it represents the best of all three with a 70% win rate.
