The Mirror report that Arsenal have joined Rangers, Celtic, and a few clubs from mainland Europe in eyeing a summer move for Wigan Athletic teenager Kyle Joseph.

The player’s contract expires at the end of the season, at which point he’ll be free to leave for no more than a compensation fee.

Joseph broke into the Wigan first team this season, making his debut against Northampton Town at the end of October. Since then, he’s scored five goals and assisted one in 16 appearances.

The young striker initially caught the eye in last season’s run to the FA Youth Cup quarter-final with his current club. He scored six goals in four games, including one against Spurs’ u18s as Wigan knocked Arsenal’s North London rivals out.

Joseph is currently out of action through injury, but he’s made himself a starter when fit. He had four goals in four appearances before the fitness setback, hitting his stride in senior football.

Arsenal might consider bringing in a young striker this summer, particularly if Folarin Balogun goes the other way with his own contract expiring.
