Napoli are reportedly interested in signing Kieran Tierney from Arsenal this month in what is quite possibly the funniest transfer rumour of the month less than two weeks in.
Arsenal will not sell Kieran Tierney.
Arsenal fans will not let Arsenal sell Kieran Tierney.
In fact, if a new deal isn’t currently being discussed behind the scenes for Kieran Tierney, somebody needs a boot up the arse.
The S*n and Telegraph both report that the Italians are eyeing up a move for Tierney although the former get their story from the latter.
There is no substance to the story whatsoever. Napoli want Tierney because they missed out on him when he moved from Celtic to Arsenal. That’s the whole story.
Kieran Tierney is happy at Arsenal and Arsenal are happy with him, so much so there is even talk of him becoming a future Arsenal captain.
The 23-year-old currently earns £75kpw and has three-and-a-half years left on his Arsenal deal.
He is not for sale.
Mikel Arteta couldn’t stop himself from laughing after Arsenal’s win over West Brom when he was asked about Kieran Tierney being impervious to the cold after the full-back’s superb display.
The man from Glasgow spent his evening at the Hawthornes running non-stop while wearing short sleeves as the snow fell. What was also noticeable was the rest of the Arsenal team were also all wearing short sleeves with white undershirts, presumably so the defender could wear just short sleeves.
After the game, a reporter asked Mikel Arteta about it all.
“He’s got something special in his blood because we’re all wearing snoods, gloves and hats!” Arteta said.
“He just goes out in his shorts and t shirt! It’s not like he’s acting, believe me. He’s very comfortable like that.
“From the moment I joined this club and he went through this shoulder injury, I saw a player with enormous talent with the perfect attitude and commitment.
“He is a joy to work with and I’m so happy for him with the goal he scored and everything he’s put in to be better every day towards the team and towards the club.
“He had some issues to adapt and it was a challenge for him to leave his house, and we are all trying to help him because the kid really deserves it. He’s a joy to work with.”
