Sead Kolasinac is currently out of action with a thigh problem, missing FC Schalke’s defeat to Bayern Munich at the weekend.

After joining his former club Schalke at the start of the January transfer window, Sead Kolasinac initially made a positive impression on the side.

The Bundesliga side won their first league game of the season on Kolasinac’s debut, a dominant 4-0 victory. He then performed well two games later against FC Köln, but had to come off after 71 minutes with a thigh problem.

The scores were level at the time, but Köln went on to win the match 2-1.

Unfortunately, Kolasinac didn’t recover in time to face Bayern Munich on Sunday, who thrashed Schalke 4-0 in his absence. Whether he could have done much to stop that kind of result is certainly up for debate.

Regardless, Schalke will want Kolasinac back as soon as possible, given they’re 10 points away from 15th place and safety. At the very least, they need to bridge the eight-point gap to 16th so they can make the relegation play-off.

For now, it looks likely they’re going down, which would probably kill any chance of Kolasinac making his move permanent.
