Arsenal suffered a couple of injury blows against Southampton, with Thomas Partey and Emile Smith Rowe both coming off with knocks.

Neither of their problems seemed particularly serious, but the situation is more urgent than usual as Arsenal get ready for a crucial home match as underdogs against Manchester United. As a result, the Arsenal fans are sweating on the pair’s fitness.

Charles Watts reports that Partey has recovered well since Tuesday, with sources close to the player confident he will be available to face Manchester United. He still needs one final check, but he’s expected to get the green light to play.

On Smith Rowe, James Benge reports that the player initially came off on Tuesday with cramp. Though there’s no public certainty over whether it’s developed into something worse, the problem was nothing serious at the time, so that’s good news.

In his pre-match press conference on Thursday, Mikel Arteta wasn’t giving anything away, only saying that both players had been experiencing discomfort during the game and they hope it’s nothing serious.

It’s still very possible either or both of them miss out on the starting lineup on Saturday. However, right now, the signs are positive they can each play a part in the match.
