Early on Wednesday, Francesco Porzio reported that Arsenal should announce Martin Odegaard in the coming hours. The club has now made it official with a post on Twitter.

Porzio explains that Arsenal were waiting for after their game against Southampton to announce the deal. They didn’t want to do so before, hence the delays despite the fact the player has been in London since Monday.

Meanwhile, an Arsenal fan in Kuwait has spotted that their official online store has allocated Odegaard the number 11. With Lucas Torreira on loan until the end of the season, there’s no reason why Odegaard shouldn’t take the number for the time being.

Many fans suggested Odegaard might take over the number 10 from Mesut Özil. But maybe it’s better the club don’t put that kind of pressure on the loan signing. He’s going to get enough of those comparisons already, by virtue of his position and parent club.
