Arsenal loan centre-back McGuinness helped Ipswich Town keep a clean sheet on Saturday, making four clearances, four interceptions, and winning six out of eight aerials duels, without committing a single foul or being dribbled past.

Even more impressively, the defender went on to score the winning goal, popping up at the other end to head home from a set-piece.

As a result, it should probably come as no surprise that McGuinness made it into the League One Team of the Week. The win helped Ipswich to secure seventh place in the table, with two games in hand on Charlton one point ahead in the playoff places.

The fans aren’t particularly happy at the moment, though. They feel the team is underperforming, and the win at the weekend just papered over the cracks.

But as long as McGuinness is performing well, that’s not something for Arsenal fans to worry about. The only concern will be whether the defender keeps his place if the fans get their wish and the manager is replaced.
