As recently as earlier this week, the indications coming from journalists around Arsenal were that the club weren’t planning to loan Reiss Nelson out this month. The official line was that it was the injuries keeping him out, not squad selection.

However, the player is clearly fit now, and he still isn’t making the matchday squad for rotated FA Cup lineups like the one that faced Southampton on Saturday.

Mark Mann-Bryans reports that Arsenal are now looking into a loan, noting Emile Smith Rowe’s progress following his spell with Huddersfield last season. We may see some progression on a potential loan in the coming days.

James Benge wrote that Hertha BSC approached Arsenal over a loan in the summer, and Bayer Leverkusen have also previously expressed an interest.

It looks like a domestic loan is more likely at this point though, and there’ll surely be plenty of Championship clubs interested if the 21-year-old is available.
