Sources close to William Saliba are denying reports in the French media that there’s a strong possibility he’ll extend his loan with OGC Nice.

L’Equipe (via GFFN) wrote this morning that there’s a serious possibility William Saliba’s loan with OGC Nice will be extended through to June 2022 – if all goes well.

However, Chris Wheatley reports that people close to the player have denied the report. Saliba will return to Arsenal when his loan ends.

L’Equipe don’t seem to have a very good track record on Saliba news recently. Just last week, they claimed Arsenal were open to accepting permanent offers for him, just days before he moved on loan.

David Ornstein of The Athletic reported that there “has been no indication from Arsenal that they would consider selling” Saliba.

Charles Watts added the Gunners see the defender as part of their future. So that L’Equipe report doesn’t have much going for it either.

Clearly, not everything has gone to plan with Saliba so far. But it looks like the French outlet is trying to stir up further trouble right now.

We’ll see what happens over the coming months, but I hope and expect Saliba will join up with the Arsenal squad in the summer.
