Sky Sports report that Norwich City are identifying potential replacements for Emi Buendia in case of a bid for the player next month. They’re looking for around £25m for a sale, and Sky write that he’s “previously been linked with Arsenal”.

The Gunners aren’t the only ones in the race, however. Buendia has admirers in Spain, with Atletico Madrid and Valencia looking at him over the summer.

Over the weekend, Buendia scored one and assisted another to hit 13 goal contributions for the league season so far. Although those stats are in the Championship, he proved himself an effective creative force in the Premier League last season.

Despite playing for a relegated side, Buendia created 83 chances for Norwich, the fourth-most of any player in the league. 55 of those were from open play, which is more than any Arsenal player managed even with set-pieces.

In fact, only Kevin De Bruyne (106), Jack Grealish (66), Sadio Mane (59), and Mohamed Salah (57) created more chances from open play in the Premier League than Buendia in 2019/20.

Football.London recently reported that Buendia is one of several players on Arsenal’s transfer shortlist. The club are yet to make any kind of formal approach, but Mikel Arteta is an admirer of the 23-year-old.
