Arsenal may struggle to follow up any interest in Emi Buendia this January, as Norwich City want him around for their promotion charge.

The Athletic report that Emi Buendia would appear to be an attractive option to Arsenal if they decide to invest in a player with Premier League experience to address their creative midfield issues. However, Norwich City won’t be keen to let him go.

Daniel Farke reportedly ‘isn’t thinking off offloading mid-season’, as Norwich push for promotion. They’re currently four points clear at the top of the Championship, but they got there thanks to six goals and seven assists in 17 games from Buendia.

In the five games Buendia has missed in 2020/21, Norwich have one win, two draws, and two defeats. Meanwhile, they only have two draws and three defeats in total from the 17 he featured in.

I’d have serious doubts about Monday’s claims from Turkey that Norwich want just £15m for the player. That would be a cheap price for Buendia even if they were languishing in mid-table with no chance of promotion.

Football.London recently reported that Buendia is one of several players on Arsenal’s transfer shortlist. The club are yet to make any kind of formal approach, but Mikel Arteta is an admirer of the 23-year-old. It’s just hard to see it going through in January.
