Shkodran Mustafi isn’t on his way to Barcelona despite his agent holding talks with the club this week, according to reports.

Football.London report that Barcelona will not be making a move to sign Shkodran Mustafi in January, despite recent reports. The centre-back’s deal expires at the end of the season, so this is Arsenal’s final chance to cash in on him.

Reports earlier this week suggested the move was a genuine possibility, with Mustafi’s agent confirming he was in Barcelona for talks with the club.

Football.London claim this was simply a case of the player’s representatives offering him out, but the Catalan club are looking for a different profile of player. A Barcelona source claims Mustafi ‘100%’ won’t be joining.

I’m afraid to say that we’re looking at another window where the most likely option is that Mustafi sticks around, using up a precious squad space so he can perform well against Dundalk and make costly errors against the likes of Leicester City and Manchester City.

At least this is the last time we’ll have to deal with this saga. Unless Arsenal are foolish enough to tie Mustafi down to an extension, he’ll have to go somewhere else in June.
