Barcelona have moved to dismiss claims they are in negotiations to bring in Shkodran Mustafi, stating that they met with his agent merely as a ‘courtesy’.
Earlier this week, Shkodran Mustafi’s agent claimed that he was at the Camp Nou to discuss a move for the German defender who has annoyed Arsenal fans for so long.
Emre Ozturk reportedly told Spox, “I’m not in Barcelona because of Yusuf Demir, but because of Shkodran Mustafi from Arsenal, whom we also represent.”
This wasn’t the first time Mustafi has been linked with a move to Barcelona. Just a month prior, it had been claimed the 28-year-old was on a list with Joel Matip and others but, if Barcelona are to be believed, it could all just be agent games.
Mustafi is out of contract in the summer. He can sign a pre-contract in January with a club outside of England and his agent’s job is to create as much hype around the player as possible so he can land the best deal. That’s a bit hard to do when your client has spent four years doing the stupidest sh*t imaginable on a football pitch.
Mundo Deportivo claim a meeting did take place but Barcelona held it out of ‘courtesy’ and they will not be making a move for Mustafi.
