Max Bielefeld tweeted out on Friday morning that Sky sources confirm Dominik Szoboszlai is close to completing a move to RB Leipzig.

The player chose Leipzig over interest from across Europe, including the reports linking him to Arsenal. Only the final details are missing to formalise the transfer, and both clubs want to announce it before Christmas.

TheAFCBell report that Sky’s information is valid, adding that Arsenal never made an offer, despite registering their interest in Szoboszlai. The club will continue to follow his development going forward.

David Ornstein previously confirmed Arsenal were considering Szoboszlai. The player has a €25m release clause, which is pretty affordable, but it has to be paid in one go.

If a club plans to pay it in January, Szoboszlai has to give notice by December 15th, which is why it’s no surprise to see the Leipzig news a few days before that date.

The Athletic also named Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, and Spurs on the list of clubs reportedly following him before Leipzig’s latest move to secure the deal.
