Daniel Farke bluntly addressed questions about a potential transfer for Emiliano Buendia to Arsenal, speaking in his pre-match press conference.

Football.London report that Emiliano Buendia is one of several players on Arsenal’s transfer shortlist. The club are yet to make any kind of formal approach, but Mikel Arteta is an admirer of the 23-year-old.

Responding to questions on the rumours, Farke said: “No comment from our side. I had this for three months. I will probably have to speak every day in January about these things. So I am not going to add to speculation in this period.”

Buendia is focusing on promotion for the time being, but sources close to the player suggest a January move is possible, depending on Norwich.

Largely playing on the right wing last season, Buendia scored one goal and assisted eight. He’s already well on his way to beating that total this year, with two goals and five assists in 10 games – but that’s in the Championship after Norwich’s relegation.

Arsenal don’t really need another right-winger, with Nicolas Pepe and Willian already competing for one spot, but perhaps they plan to use Buendia more centrally. He’d certainly be well-suited to supporting Pepe in an attacking midfield role, given his skill set.

For the time being, it doesn’t look like anything is close. But with Arsenal struggling creatively, they might consider a player who made the fourth-most chances in the league last season.
