Raul Jimenez has finally returned to training after the skull fracture he picked up against Arsenal back in November.

Sporting a very impressive scar, Raul Jimenez has thankfully now returned to training although there are still some limits on what he can do and he is some way from playing properly again.

For a start, he’s still not allowed any contact in training so, while he can play with the ball with his teammates, he is not able to participate fully in training.

That being said, we should all be thankful that he’s back on the field after such an awful injury.

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo said: “He’s feeling well and good, and we decided that was the best step, together with the doctor, to integrate him into parts of the training session because working by yourself for many hours can become hard to handle, but we still have to wait.

“It’s all about how he reacts to situations now, things that he didn’t do before and how he reacts to different exercises.

“He will give us the right answers and the right timing to make any further decisions.”

Raul Jimenez undergoes surgery for fractured skull after David Luiz head clash

Wolves have confirmed that Raul Jimenez is doing well after the player underwent surgery on Sunday night for a fractured skull.

There was, rightly, much concern after the accidental clash of heads between Wolves’ Raul Jimenez and Arsenal’s David Luiz and while one player played on, at least until half-time (which he shouldn’t), the other was rushed to hospital and had to undergo surgery because of a fractured skull.

How could the head that did that be ok to carry on? A discussion for another day, for sure.

Thankfully, Wolves have confirmed that Jimenez’s surgery was a success.

“Raul is comfortable following an operation last night, which he underwent in a London hospital,” Wolves said in a statement.

“He has since seen his partner Daniela and is now resting. He will remain under observation for a few days while he begins his recovery.

“The club would like to thank the medical staff at Arsenal, the NHS paramedics, hospital staff and surgeons who, through their skill and early response, were of such help.

“The club ask that Raul and his family are now afforded a period of space and privacy, before any further updates are provided in due course.”

Speaking after the game, Mikel Arteta said, “It was a really tense situation because the collision was surprising and straightaway you could see the reaction of the players, asking for the doctors to come on the field, which is never a good reaction.

“Then I just had news from David that the doc made all the tests and followed all the protocols to make sure that he was fine. He responded really well to all of them, but it was a nasty cut. David wanted to continue and he continued, but at half-time we decided to take him out because he was uncomfortable heading the ball.

“And with Raul, I’m really concerned and worried and want to send him our best wishes for him and his family because it looked really nasty and hopefully he can make a good recovery.”

Everybody here at Daily Cannon wishes Raul a speedy and full recovery.
