Jack Wilshere says a return to Arsenal would be ‘the dream’, but he knows there’s probably little chance of it actually happening.

Jack Wilshere recently confirmed he was leaving West Ham United to become a free agent, in the hope of finding a new club where he could get on the pitch more often. He insists he was fit to play for much of this year, he just didn’t get a chance.

The Arsenal academy graduate also denies there were any fall-outs with his West Ham teammates or coaches. He just took the decision that he needed to move on for the sake of his career.

Now he’s on the hunt for a new club, stirring up speculation about an Arsenal return with one of his recent tweets. ITV asked him about the possibility of another spell in North London.

“You never know. Listen, I’m an Arsenal man,” Wilshere said. “Look, there’s nothing, I’ve not spoken to anyone or anything, but that would be the dream.

“I’m not stupid to know that there’s probably no chance of it happening but I’m an Arsenal man, I love the club, I want to see the club do well.”

As Wilshere admits himself, there’s probably little chance of anything happening here. Arsenal gave the player so many years already, and towards the end, it seemed like the best move for both parties to head in different directions.

There’s no doubt Arsenal could use help in midfield, but the Wilshere ship has probably sailed at this point.
