Reuell Walters signed for Manchester United a year ago, having also previously spent time with Tottenham Hotspur. However, he’s returning to North London with Arsenal, confirming the news on his social media pages.

Writing on Twitter, Walters said: “New chapter. New beginning. Thanks to God and everyone who has played a part in my journey so far, especially my mum, dad, sister, family, and friends.

“Also a very special thank you to everyone at Arsenal for believing in me. Excited to get started!”

Arsenal Youth report that Walters generally plays at right-back. The teenager turns 16 next month, and he first played for the Manchester United u16s as a trialist at the SuperCupNI last September.

Walters joins a strong group of young right-backs at Arsenal right now. Daniel Oyegoke was impressive before his recent injury, and Brooke Norton-Cuffy is stepping up very well in his place. Then there’s Jordi Osei-Tutu on loan with Cardiff City.

Clearly, there’s a lot of competition, but there’s room for all of them at the moment. With Osei-Tutu on loan, Oyegoke would start in the u23s when fit, with Norton-Cuffy in the u18s and Walters in the u16s.

Oyegoke has also spent some time at centre-back this season, so that’s another way to ensure more of them get regular minutes.

Good luck to Walters with his new-club adaptation in the coming months!
